The Marr Landscape Services Team is proposing a project to rejuvenate Aboyne Village Green.

The project includes the following elements:

1. Tree Replacement: The team plans to replace old trees with new, high-standard native ones. Eight dead trees will be removed and stamps shredded, while the living trees will be left intact as long as they are thriving. The new avenue of trees will be strategically planted a minimum of 5 meters away from Charlestown Road, parallel to the present ones and 5 meters apart from each other.

2. Avenue Placement: The new trees will be planted next to existing old trees, creating a harmonious blend of the past and future.

3. FloraFleece and Wildflowers: The project involves installing FloraFleece and wildflower perennials over a 320-meter stretch. This will enhance the area's biodiversity, provide a habitat for wildlife, and beautify the park with colours.

Project Timeline: The proposed timeline for this initiative is March/April 2024.

Budget: The project is aligned with the Nature Restoration Fund, a Scottish Government grant, ensuring the budget for materials is secured.

Community Engagement: To ensure the success of this project, we invite the active participation of the Community Council, community groups, schools, and the general public. Your input is invaluable in shaping the future of Aboyne.

Together, let's transform Aboyne Village Green into a symbol of natural beauty, community collaboration, and environmental sustainability!

The map provided is a preliminary proposal and only gives a rough idea of the plan. The green circles on the map indicate the trees, while the red line represents the wildflowers. Please note that the number of circles and the length of the line are not precise measurements and are only indicative. The trees will be planted at a minimum distance of 5 meters from the road and from each other.
