Every four years Aberdeenshire Health & Social Care Partnership (AHSCP) establishes Equality Outcomes that outline how AHSCP aim to deliver improvements to services that will improve quality of life for AHSCP services users and its workforce in an equal and fair way.

The Equality Act 2010 legally protects people from discrimination in the workplace and in wider society. The Act means that it is unlawful to discriminate against anyone because of age, being or becoming a transsexual person, being married or in a civil partnership, being pregnant or on maternity leave, disability, race, religion, sex or sexual orientation. These are called 'protected characteristics'.  Everyone is protected by the Equality Act 2010 as every person has at least one or more of the above protected characteristics.

As a public body, AHSCP has a duty to take account of the need to:

  • eliminate discrimination, harassment and victimisation,

  • advance equality of opportunity,

  • foster good relations.

Equality Outcomes 2024-2028: 2nd stage consultation

The AHSCP carried out a public consultation between September and October 2024 on what our Equality Outcomes for 2024-2028 should be. From the feedback received during this first phase of consultations three draft Equality Outcomes and related actions were developed. We then invited you to review the draft Equality Outcomes and actions by completing a brief survey questionnaire. The survey closed on 14th April 2025. This feedback will help shape the final version of the Equality Outcomes 2024-2028.

Next Steps

The Equality Outcomes will be considered for approval at an Integration Joint Board meeting in the near future (date tbc). Those meeting papers can be found on the council website here when agendas and papers are available.
