FAQs
Is this consultation relevant to everyone?
The consultation is relevant to anyone who has an interest in bus services in Aberdeenshire, but particularly people using buses in the Inverurie or Deeside areas
Why are we asking people to give their views?
We are seeking views and information to help us plan the introduction of one or more enhanced demand responsive transport services to replace conventional fixed route timetabled bus services. More generally, we want to understand more about why and how often people are currently using bus services and how they will potentially use bus services in the future.
Can someone request a paper copy of the survey if they cannot use the online questionnaire?
No, but we can arrange for a telephone survey. Call 01467 535333 or email public.transport@aberdeenshire.gov.uk to request this
How do I find out about current bus services?
Go to the Traveline Scotland website for information about all local bus services. The latest Stagecoach timetables can be found online.
How would any proposed enhanced DRT service differ from A2B dial-a-bus services?
Most A2B dial-a-bus services are operated by Council minibuses during restricted hours, and they are mainly used by people going shopping for food, for example once or twice a week. Trips are made in advance by phoning the A2B office. Any new Council-supported DRT service, which would be branded with a new name, would be provided by a transport operator. Its operating hours would be more like higher-frequency bus services. The proposed smartphone app would allow passengers to book their bus at any time of day in advance or at short notice. Passengers booking in advance would also have the option of phoning an office.
How will any proposed enhanced DRT service differ from Central Buchan A2B dial-a-bus?
The main difference would be the introduction of a smartphone app allowing passengers to book their bus at any time of day. Normally Central Buchan A2B passengers must book their bus at least one hour ahead of travel. Any new enhanced DRT service would allow passengers to book at even shorter notice when using the smartphone app and they will be able to track the vehicle. Passengers booking in advance would be able to either use the smartphone app or phone an office to book.
