Closure of Gartly School Statutory Consultation
This consultation concluded on 23 March 2022. Thank you for your participation. All responses have been collated and sent to Education Scotland who will prepare a report on the consultation. A report by Aberdeenshire Council will be prepared and presented at Marr Area Committee, then Education & Children's Services Committee for a recommendation. This report will then be presented to Aberdeenshire Full Council for a decision in due course.
Aberdeenshire Council is proposing, subject to the outcome of the statutory consultation process;
- To discontinue education at Gartly School, which is currently mothballed, and re-assign the catchment area to that of either Rhynie School or Kennethmont School
- The proposal would apply to the primary school stages (P1-P7) in Gartly
- The proposed changes, if approved, will take place immediately after the consultation of the statutory process relating to school closures
This consultation is being undertaken in accordance with the Schools (Consultation) (Scotland) Act 2010. The Act requires that changes to the school estate, including the proposed closure of a school is subject to rigorous statutory consultation.
