The inpatient ward at Insch Hospital was temporarily closed in early 2020 as part of the wider response to the COVID-19 pandemic. At that time, five inpatient beds were in use this was due to ongoing recruitment difficulties and concerns about the safe evacuation of patients in the event of a fire.
In 2021, Aberdeenshire Health and Social Care Partnership carried out a Strategic Needs Assessment for Insch and the surrounding area. The findings were presented to the Aberdeenshire Integration Joint Board in summer 2022, and the recommendations were agreed.
We are now seeking views to understand the potential impact on individuals, families and the wider community if the inpatient service is permanently closed and the building is later declared surplus to the IJB’s requirements.
Survey There is a short survey below which will allow us to gather your feedback to inform the development of an Integrated Impact Assessment to support the IJB in it’s decision making. The survey closing date is 31st July 2026.
If required, paper copies of the survey can be printed from the menu on the right. Paper copies will now also be available from Insch library. If you would like to respond as a group, please view this pack(also available on menu on the right) which can be used for a group discussion and response.
