Kincardine and Mearns Playparks 2026
Aberdeenshire Council is seeking input from the local community to select new play equipment for five play parks within Kincardine and Mearns.
As some of the popular pieces are nearing the end of their serviceable life, we aim to replace them with items that cater to a similar age range and offer equal or greater play value. The funds for this project, £195,000, will come solely from the Scottish Government Play Park Renewal Fund.
The play parks being upgraded are:
- Arbuthnott Parish Hall
- Catterline Recreation Park
- Laurencekirk Memorial & Glebe Field
- Portlethen Burnside Park
- St. Cyrus Recreation Park.
Details of the equipment being replaced is outlined below -
Arbuthnott, Parish Hall: Replace Junior Multi-Play Unit and Adventure Trail

Catterline, Recreation Park: Replace Toddler Multi-Play Unit w/Slide and the Swings

Laurencekirk, Memorial & Glebe Park: Replace Toddler/Inclusive Multi-Play Unit and Roundabout

Portlethen, Burnside Park: Replace Adventure Trail

St Cyrus, Recreation Park: Install a new Junior Multi-Play Unit
Proposals were received from five suppliers. The top three, following evaluation, have been shortlisted for public consultation. The design receiving the most public votes will be selected for installation.
Each survey includes three design layout options to choose from - except Portlethen, which has two. Please look through the designs and use the checkbox to select your preferred supplier. You only need to complete the survey for the playpark(s) you’re interested in.
To participate in the survey, you’ll need to sign up with an email address, and you can only fill it out once. This helps keep the results fair and accurate.
Your feedback is really important. It helps shape the final park design and ensures that the external funding is used in a way that best benefits the local community.
