Biodiversity and Nature Crisis
This Topic Paper provides details on the information sources we have used in our assessment of "Biodiversity and Nature Crisis" across Aberdeenshire and provides interim conclusions that should be taken forward in the Spatial Strategy and site selection process for the forthcoming Local Development Plan 2029.
It does not consider site-specific biodiversity issues (which are the subject of a separate Topic Paper "Natural Places) and the conservation and enhancement of ndesignated nature conservation sites.
It considers, and asks for your views, on six general topics:
Ancient and Native woodland
Freshwater - Rivers and wetlands
Lowland Raised bogs
Wintering waterfowl and wader populations
Species rich grassland
Coastal Habitats
Invasive non-native species
While considering these issues it would probably be appropriate to refer to the content of the Topic Paper.
