Let's talk Aberdeenshire

Life in Aberdeenshire

Aberdeenshire is full of unique places - from coastal communities to rural villages and busy towns. Before we begin, we’d love to know which part of Aberdeenshire you live in or use most often. This could be the town you visit regularly for school, work, shopping, healthcare, or other services. We’ve listed 17 towns across Aberdeenshire that have an Academy school, as these often act as hubs for surrounding areas. This approach doesn’t exclude smaller communities; it simply helps us group responses in a way that reflects how people experience different parts of Aberdeenshire in their everyday lives.

When answering the following questions, please think about the town you have selected.

Getting about your Community

This section looks at how easy and safe it is to get around your area - whether you're walking, cycling, driving, or using public transport. Aberdeenshire Council plays a key role in managing roads, pavements, public transport partnerships, active travel routes, traffic safety, and parking. When answering the questions, think about how it is in your town, village or area.

Local Identity and Pride in your Town

This section is all about what makes a place feel like home – its culture, history and identity. These are the things that help people feel they belong and bring people together. Aberdeenshire Council supports this by community planning – where local people, groups and organisations working together to decide what’s needed in the area. We also have inclusive services – making sure everyone can use council services, no matter their background or circumstances. And we work with partners – teaming up with others like health services, police and charities to keep communities safe and support wellbeing. Your feedback tells us how people feel about where they live.
