Live Life Aberdeenshire Library Service is innovative and over the last few years, due to customer needs changing, we have adapted and developed our services. It has been agreed to release buildings in some communities where we can still offer an excellent service without the dedicated library building. Portsoy and Whitehills libraries are two of these buildings. Many communities in Aberdeenshire already access library services without a bespoke library building.
In these communities, customers will still have full access to services and can browse, order, and receive books in their community through online and telephone requests. There is instant access to a full range of publications through the free and easy-access PressReader tool. The service is developing place-based services that will offer in-person contact with library staff including through events such as -
Bookbug sessions in Primary School and Nursery settings.
Memories Scotland sessions in sheltered housing. We could also use these sessions to promote large print books, and audio books and support access to our online services. The library team is experienced in engaging with customer groups and developing a bespoke service with themed events.
Current doorstep delivery service will be expanded as well as visits by the e-van.
We recognise this is a change for some of our library users and we would ask that you complete the survey below to help us understand how any changes will affect you and enable us to look at access to future services.
This survey is part of a range of engagement activities from the Live Life Aberdeenshire Library Service that will inform an alternative delivery model.
Thank you for your time.
