Luthermuir School

Due to the continuing decline in the school roll at Luthermuir School, officers are proposing that the school closes and its catchment area is incorporated into the Fettercairn School catchment area, with effect from August 2028.

As part of this process, officers are carrying out engagement with the Luthermuir community before progressing to a formal statutory consultation under the Schools (Consultation) (Scotland) Act 2010.  Before any statutory consultation is undertaken, it is important that all reasonable alternatives to closure are identified and given full and robust consideration. We would therefore like to provide you with an opportunity to suggest any alternative options that could support the future sustainability of Luthermuir School.

As part of this process you are invited to attend a drop-in session which will be held at Luthermuir School on 8 December 2026, from 3.30pm to 6.30pm, where officers will be available to discuss the proposal and hear your views.

Your feedback will help officers consider and assess all potential options for the school.  The survey will remain open until 11 December 2026. Any alternative proposals to closure should also be submitted to Aberdeenshire Council by this date.
