Consultation has concluded
Aberdeenshire Music Centres have worked hard to ensure that ensembles have continued to meet throughout the pandemic and have provided some excellent concerts virtually. The value of face to face music-making provides an environment that supports mental health and wellbeing, promotes confidence and positive participation. Studies have shown that ensemble playing not only improves technique but provides important soft skills that are transferable throughout a young persons journey into adulthood.
The coordinators and instructors are working hard to get the ensembles back face to face, but to do so and to allow music centres to remain sustainable they will have to alter their approach. Being flexible and open to change will allow us to achieve our ambition to offer the best standard of music-making to as many people as possible across Aberdeenshire. Unfortunately, moving forward providing transport will not be a viable option due to the financial pressures we are all facing coming out of this pandemic.
Please take a few minutes to complete this questionnaire and support us to improve our service and to shape a modern efficient Music Centre Service that can meet the demands of the future. The closing date for this survey will be Sunday 14th November 2021.
The current fee structure will remain in place for this academic year. The information you provide will assist us in looking at a new fee structure for the academic year 2022-2023.
Please note that following the Scottish Government’s pledge to the initial one year removal of fees for the current academic year, there will be no fees for instrumental music tuition this year for lessons provided during the school day.
