As part of the Aberdeenshire Council Place Strategy, we will be working with you to create Place Plans for each academy town and the surrounding area. The Place Plans will be built with the participation of people in the academy catchment area and will be delivered together with our partners in the NHS, Fire Service, Police Scotland and community groups. These plans will help identify what matters most to local communities, highlight priorities for improvement and support future decision‑making.

There are three academy towns in Kincardine and Mearns: Stonehaven, Portlethen and Laurencekirk and we will be working on a Place Plan for each, starting with Stonehaven (covering the Mackie Academy catchment area) followed by Portlethen and then Laurencekirk (Mearns Academy catchment).

There is a separate page with information for each Place Plan and to make sure the plans reflect the voices of local residents, a survey will be available for each town as work begins in that area. This means you’ll be able to share your views at the point when your community’s Place Plan is being developed.

You can use the links below to view each page for more information.

Laurencekirk Area Place Planning | Engage Aberdeenshire

We will also be holding in-person public engagement events in settlements within the catchment areas. Please check the Key Dates on each page for more information.

Your feedback will help shape the themes, priorities and actions for your town, so please take part when the survey for your area opens. Thank you.
