Ranger Service Seasonal Access Rangers & Managing Increased Visitor Numbers to the Countryside Internal Survey
This year through the NatureScot Better Places Green Recovery Fund, Aberdeenshire Council received funding for 2 x Seasonal Access Ranger posts (1.6 FTE) and to help meet other costs as a result of increased visitors to the countryside such as additional cleaning of public toilets, additional waste bins and the hiring of two road mobile variable messaging signs.
Looking ahead to 2022 and further, we are seeking feedback from services on the Seasonal Access Ranger posts; work undertaken this year to manage increased visitor numbers to Aberdeenshire’s countryside; and how best to plan ahead for next year and future years to try and minimise impacts on local communities and the environment as much as possible as a result of increased visitor numbers.
This is so we can look to try and resource the actions required to mitigate against the impacts as a result of increased visitor numbers to the area.
