Summer of Play 2021
Consultation has concluded
We hope you enjoyed the Live Life Aberdeenshire Summer of Play!
You or your children may have taken part in our half day summer camps or our sports specific activities. Or perhaps you attended some of our free family sessions at our sports centres, swimming pools and museums? Maybe you took up the offer of free passes for some local visitor attractions or took part in one of our cultural projects?
We would love to hear what you did this summer and what you thought of the Summer of Play. We have provided several tools below for you to use to give your feedback - please feel free to use as many as you wish!
You can even upload your child's drawing showing what they enjoyed this summer (in the Tell us your Story tab below). We will choose the best drawing submitted to us by the end of August. The winner will win a family tubing pass for one of our outdoor ski centres!
If you would like to provide more detailed feedback, or have a private discussion, please feel free to email llacustomerservice@aberdeenshire.gov.uk

by HFower, over 4 years agoI felt incredibly fortunate that both my foster children were able to attend some half day camps and full day experiences. Having structured routines in the lengthy holidays was a significant support to them and us. Both absolutely loved the activities that they did and have asked to do them again. The mountain biking, hill walking and wilderness days were their favourite activities. Well done everyone involved for making summer of play so enjoyable.

Brilliant
by Mrs T, over 4 years agoBoth our children attended the sports camps for a total of 4 sessions each. They thoroughly enjoyed them and loved getting to meet new children. They got to try new activities and gave them a bit of routine too for the holidays. Spaces filled fast so it would have been easy to miss out. We also made use of the free family sessions at the sports centre to play badminton and basketball which was great. A fantastic opportunity. Thankyou to all that made it possible. Both our children attended the sports camps for a total of 4 sessions each. They thoroughly enjoyed them and loved getting to meet new children. Thankful for summer of play!
by Rachael Patterson, over 4 years agoMy foster child attended most days available in Aboyne and loved every minute!! She thrives on routine so even just something planned to get up for was great but she absolutely loved all the activities as well as staff. Also a wonderful opportunity for her to meet new friends! I was so grateful to have this and really hope it or something similar runs next year. Thank you to everyone involved!! She says extra thanks for zorbing and archery! My foster child attended most days available in Aboyne and loved every minute!! by Mrs Gray, over 4 years agoThe Summer of Play imitative has been great this year. Fab to try out new activities & also just taking time to go swimming. As others have said it has been hard to book sessions but I joined wait lists & got spaces sometimes. It’d be good to book spaces further forward than 7 days but equally understand that this could mean people booking places they may not attend & stop others booking. Not sure how you could get around this. All in all a great initiative though! The Summer of Play imitative has been great this year. by Gillian , over 4 years agoMy 6 year old used the summer camps at meldrum and Inverurie most weeks. They were invaluable for us to keeping him occupied and mixing with other children. The variety of activities was brilliant and he got the chance to do things that he wouldn’t have otherwise. Thank you so much for all the staff organising and working at Meldrum and Inverurie, you helped this working mum out so much and helped my son make some wonderful memories. My 6 year old used the summer camps at meldrum and Inverurie most weeks. by Emma, over 4 years agoMy Daughter loved the Summer of Play at Huntly. Elizabeth and the other playworkers were fantastic. My Daughter loved the chance to do roller skiing, crafts, cooking, river education, climbing wall and a plethora of games. Would be great if this kind of sessions could happen every summer. by MrsHRscot, over 4 years agoThe summer camp on offer to children was absolutely brilliant! My daughter attended 6 sessions and each one was fun and engaging, with a variety of activities. It gave her the opportunity to mix with other children and participate in different activities like rock climbing. Would definitely book again and recommend to others. The summer camp on offer to children was absolutely brilliant! by Mrs. Dan, over 4 years agoThank you LL Aberdeenshire and all the volunteers and the staff members at Ellon community campus.
My son loved attending the summer club at Ellon community campus. They had different activities every time when he was there. And the staff members were very friendly and helpful as well.He really enjoyed playing in the swimming pool too. He used to be terrified to go into one. Now he loves it.
Thank you for everything.

Summer of play
by EMB, over 4 years agoHeard lots of great reviews from many people, well done. However, whenever I logged in, the app was too difficult to navigate, and all places were already taken up via the website... After several attempts to book anything l gave up. (and then heard about some sessions that we wanted to do where people didn't turn up) While this isn't your fault, it needs to be addressed.I found out about the sessions held in our remote and rural area by chance...and duly spread the news on the day but if your feedback is that these were poorly attended, it's... Its been a very successful venture , just needs some tweaks, thank you.
