What is the purpose of this site?

On this page you will find information on project updates, information on meetings, as well as ways in which you can actively participate in the development of the new autism strategy.

Who is involved in developing the strategy?

The strategy is being developed in partnership with:

    • Autistic people
    • Families, parents, carers and unpaid carers
    • Local autism groups and organisations
    • Aberdeenshire's Education and Children's Services
    • Aberdeenshire Health and Social Care Partnership
    • NHS Grampian Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services
    • Wider Third Sector organisations, Aberdeenshire Council, NHS Grampian and public sector services

What is the role of the autism strategy project group?

In this instance, the project group has responsibility for coordinating the autism strategy development work, and once developed, launching the strategy.

    What is co-production?

There are many definitions as to what co-production is. We feel that this definition summarises the key parts of co-production:

‘A relationship where professionals and citizens share power to plan and deliver support together, recognising that both have vital contributions to make in order to improve quality of life for people and communities’ SCIE

To add structure to our project, we would like to use an Experienced Based Co-Design (EBCD) approach. EBCD is a method of designing better services. It involves people, staff, families, unpaid carers and service providers talking about their experiences, and agreeing areas for improvement together.
