Welcome to the Safer Routes to School consultation page
Aberdeenshire Council is working to improve how children and young people travel to and from school in ways that are safe, healthy, sustainable and efficient. This work forms part of the Council’s Transport Transformation programme, which is reviewing how transport services are delivered across Aberdeenshire.
As part of this programme, the Safer Routes to School project is reviewing opportunities for active travel routes to schools across the area. The project aims to identify routes where pupils can safely walk, wheel or cycle to school (when accompanied by a responsible adult where appropriate), and to consider what improvements may be needed to support this. Where routes are assessed as meeting safety criteria, the Council may also review existing school transport arrangements to ensure that resources are targeted where they are most needed.
This page hosts a series of route specific consultations relating to school transport services currently being considered as part of the Safer Routes to School project. Each survey focuses on a particular route or area and seeks feedback from residents, parents and carers, pupils, schools and other stakeholders who may be affected by potential changes.
Your views are an important part of this process. Feedback received through these surveys will help the Council understand the local impacts of any proposed changes, alongside technical route assessments, before any decisions are taken.
