As part of the Aberdeenshire Council Place Strategy, we will be working with you to create place plans for each academy town, our next plan for development in Garioch is Westhill.

The Place Plans follow the Place Principle, supported by the Scottish Government, which promotes joined‑up, place‑based working between organisations and communities to improve outcomes. It aligns with the Aberdeenshire Place Strategy, helping partners co-ordinate activity around people and place rather than individual services. By keeping community voices and lived experience at the centre of decision‑making, the Westhill Place Plan will support more responsive, locally informed action.

The Place Plan will be developed with the participation of people in Westhill and the surrounding area and will be delivered together with our partners in the NHS, Fire Service, Police Scotland, and community groups. Aberdeenshire’s towns have their own distinct priorities and identities. These should be recognised, and local actions should reflect local needs.

Engagement work has already taken place in Westhill with the development of the Westhill Community Action Plan, this was commissioned by Westhill and Elrick Community Council and reflects the identified actions and aspirations of the local community. We will keep this page posted once the engagement is live for Westhill to let you know how you can contribute to the development of the plan.
