Aberdeenshire young people need YOUR help!

  • Have some team tasks you would like help with?
  • Want an extra pair of hands to help your team at no additional cost?
  • Want to help shape the next generation workforce?
  • Then a Foundation Apprentice may just be the solution for you!

Aberdeenshire Council  is always looking to innovate and lead by example.  We became one of the first local authorities in Scotland to directly offer Foundation Apprenticeships to pupils in S5 and S6.  This year over 1000 pupils have signed up to study for a Foundation Apprenticeship and we need to find them work experience placements in their chosen areas.

While Foundation Apprenticeships are available across a range of subjects, we are specifically looking for work placements in the following areas:

  • Accountancy
  • Business skills

What is involved in having a Foundation Apprentice in the Team?

  • The young person attends their placement once a week, usually for half a day.
  • The young person is supported by an External Assessor who will monitor their progress and development.

We want your views on Foundation Apprenticeships and how likely you would be to offer a placement, now or in the future, to a local young person.  The survey will take less than five minutes to complete and will help us to understand how different Council Departments engage with Foundation Apprentices, and how this might change in the future.

If you have any questions:

  • Take the survey and include your email or contact number.
  • Contact one of the Work Placement Unit team listed in the "Who's Listening" section above.
