The General Extension

The general extension applies to the live televised coverage of the following matches:


  • Any Qualifying Home Nation Matches (Scotland and England).
  • The Quarter Finals.
  • The Semi Finals.
  • The Third Place Playoff.
  • The Final.

The general extension applies for the duration of of the match and permits the sale of alcohol until 30 minutes after the conclusion of the match. The Said 30 minutes is inclusive of 15 minutes drinking up time.


The following limitations are to have effect during the use of the general extension: 

  • No outdoor areas are to be used during the use of the general extension except for the purpose of smoking.
  • The general extension is permitted in respect in respect of the showing of the relevant World Cup matches only and no other form of entertainment is to be permitted whilst this is in operation.

Premises must ensure that they also continue to adhere to the conditions attached to their licence whilst the general extension is in effect.
