The TEC Room is a technology demonstration room in Peterhead at 70 King Street.

Technology Enabled Care is the use of technology to help people live independently and manage their health more effectively.

The TEC Room has been set up to help people learn about the technology and how it can help them stay at home longer. Some examples of the technology will be on display and demonstrations will be available.

From those navigating a dementia diagnosis to adults with a learning disability, it is hoped the concept will enable people to understand how even basic technology can change their life for the better.

The initiative has seen a room at a former day centre transformed into a cosy bedroom, so visitors are able to get to grips with how equipment can work in a home setting.

Members of the public will be able to book a slot with demonstrations on offer from occupational therapists, who already routinely prescribe technology when caring for service users within the community.

Home consumer options including Amazon Alexa, an automatic curtain opener, and doorbell camera can all be tried out. Also on display are examples of fall sensors and pendant alarms available through the Telecare service.

The full address is 70 King Street, Peterhead, AB42 1QJ and you will see the TEC Room sign outside the front door.
