What is 'Youth Voice'?
Youth Voice is young people feeling able to express their views, being heard and even taking action on, or influencing things that affect them or matter to them. There is a variety of ways children and young people can get involved in decision-making, at the individual, community, local authority, and national level and you can find out more about Aberdeenshire’s Youth Participation Structure and all the different groups through the Aberdeenshire 'Getting it Right for Every Child' Participation and Engagement Page
What Youth Voice opportunities are there through the Aberdeenshire Youth and Communities Team?
1. Youth Forums
Young People coming together at an Aberdeenshire level as well as at more local levels to understand common themes affecting young people, or of importance to young people, and being supported to express these and even take action to address these.
- Local Youth Forums. We are developing 6 forums covering wide areas. Some areas have more local forums too.
- Aberdeenshire Youth Forum meet 4 times a year with representatives from local youth forums.

- Which forums can I get involved in?
- Buchan Area Youth Forums. If you live in Peterhead and Mintlaw Academy catchment area. Contact Brenda.
- Banff and Buchan Area Youth Forums. If you live in Banff and Fraserburgh Academy catchment areas. Contact Joanna or Pamela.
- Garioch Area Youth Forums. If you live in Inverurie, Kemnay or Westhill Academy catchment areas. Contact Jenna.
- Formartine Area Youth Forums. If you live in Ellon, Meldrum or Turriff Academy catchment areas. Contact Douglas.
- Marr Area Youth Forums. If you live in Aboyne, Alford, Banchory Academies or Gordon Schools Huntly catchment areas. Contact Roisin.
- Kincardine and Mearns Area Youth Forums. If you live in Mearns, Portlethen or Mackie Academy catchment areas. Contact Natalie.
2. Youth Parliament.
The Youth and Communities Team support Scottish Youth Parliament Elections and then the elected members of the Scottish Youth Parliament (MSYPS) to represent young people including by attending 4 Scottish Youth Parliament sittings a year. 7 MSYPs currently cover 4 constituencies across Aberdeenshire:

3. Have your say through surveys and polls.
We are out and about speaking to young people but you can also see and take part in live surveys and polls when they are open here.
We will also post anonymised survey results and reports here as well as sharing these with all our Youth Voice Representatives including your MSYPs and Youth Forums.
