Brownfield Opportunities will be one of the 26 topic papers for the Evidence Report for the Aberdeenshire Local Development Plan 2028. The ultimate aim of this topic paper is to explore the scope for previously used sites and buildings to be used for future development. The Scottish Government urges brownfield sites being brought forward for development before any greenfield sites. Regenerating or renovating brownfield sites contributes to sustainable development.
Aberdeenshire Council covers a large and diverse area, with different characteristics and issues. As a result, we value local knowledge. Therefore, in this survey we are inviting you to take help us to identify potential brownfield opportunity sites in Aberdeenshire.
There are two surveys. The mapping survey “Mapping Brownfield Land Opportunity Sites” is appropriate for all interested parties. The second survey “What constitutes a brownfield development opportunity?” is more technical and is more appropriate for developers, architects or other professionals from the development industry. This latter survey closed on 1 may 2023.
Completing the surveys is made easier if you are a registered user and have registered to use the EngageHQ site. In any event we ask for some personal details to assist us with understanding the points that you are making.
A PDF of the full questionnaire is provided for reference. Please note that this is for information only and only in exceptional circumstances should you seek to make a submission to the survey that is not through this electronic application. As the surveys are anonymous if you need to please keep a copy of your own response as we will not be able to distinguish your response from the others we receive.
A summary of the responses to both questionnaires will be published here after the closing date.
