FAQs
What is the public realm?
The Public Realm means the open areas of hard and soft landscaping around the buildings. In this case to the front of the shops, between the shopfront and the pavement.
Has the public realm been adopted by Aberdeenshire Council.
Yes. Aberdeenshire Coucil has adopted the public realm at Clerkhill Shopping Precinct to allow it to make improvements.
Why can't the public realm be improved without making lots of changes?
The public realm at Clerkhill Shopping Precinct doesn't meet accessibility standards. Even if minor changes were suggested these would have to meet the new standards which is very difficult on the sloping site.
How will this work be funded?
Aberdeenshire Council has committed regeneration funding to this scheme.
