What are the Information & Advice Services?

A strategic approach to delivering Information & Advice Services across Aberdeenshire has been developed to ensure the sector is supported, resulting in good quality, accessible services which meets the National Standards.

These community-based services are integrated within the strategic framework which involves a substantial change to the way in which services are delivered for those most in need in our community.

Main Delivery partners

Money Advice and Welfare Rights Money and benefits advice - Aberdeenshire Council 

The team has been developed over the last 3 years with Money Advice & Welfare Rights Workers linked into community organisations such as Food-banks, Progress In Dialogue. Support for Aberdeenshire Councils Relocation Team and Housing Service. Some staff are based within GP Practices and one is linked into Meldrum Academy. 

Using a person-centered approach, the team provides a flexible and accessible service to people living in Aberdeenshire.

To ensure good quality services are being delivered across the sector a Quality Assurance / Training Post has been developed as part of this team to ensure the service being delivered meets the National Standards and will support the whole sector to develop an integrated approach to delivery.

Commissioned Community Based Services

Independent Information & Advice Services across Aberdeenshire gives people community access to the range of support and services which the third sector have traditionally delivered. The service delivers General Advice, Money, Debt and Welfare Rights. This community-based services have been commissioned and is being delivered by Kincardine & Mearns Citizens' Advice Bureau (CAB) on behalf of all the local CABs that operate across Aberdeenshire.

    Aberdeenshire Council and its partners are committed to ensuring experts of experience are involved in not only co production of our services but ensuring services continue to develop and meet the needs of those who benefit from that service or sector. 

    We are currently reviewing the services that support you with advice in relation to welfare rights and benefits either through Aberdeenshire Council or external partners

    As part of any review process it is important that we get a range of views from those who use the service, work or volunteer in the service and those who fund the service to ensure areas of good practice are highlighted and areas of improvement are acted on.
