Mapping community learning and development in Kincardine and Deeside
March 2025
Partners, organisations, voluntary groups or wider members of Kincardine and Mearns communities are invited to complete the following questions.
The intention is to achieve the aims of the partnership plan, published in December 2024 (see below) to map the local community development and community learning offer in the local area.
The aim of this activity is to create a directory of learning and development offers locally, as well as creating pathways for those who may need learning or development support to improve their life chances and sense of belonging in the community. The partnership will also be able to identify where there are gaps in that provision, where there is unmet need and influence change to redress this imbalance. The partners will also be able to explore how their service can add to a collective response, creating effective and efficient partnership relationships to deliver.
Please complete the questions with as much detail as possible and do share the questionnaire with anyone you think can add to the information being collected. The survey will be open until 31st March 2025.
Aberdeenshire Learning Community Partnership Community Learning and Development Plan 2024 - 2027
Planning
Development sessions and workshops around data, trends, needs and self-evaluation have been held with partners. This enabled the partnership to reflect on what we did well and some areas for improvement. Through the self-evaluation process the following two priorities have been identified.
Theme 1. Community Empowerment
Empowering people, individually and collectively, to make positive changes in their lives and in their communities, through learning. Through developing the necessary skills, networks and understanding, communities and groups can take ownership locally.
Action - Map the community development learning offer and support to groups by partners across Aberdeenshire to improve understanding of partners' offers and identify any gaps. This will identify and develop clear support options and access routes.
Partners will support individuals and community organisations to address community issues collaboratively
Theme 2. Employment and Skills
Developing a coordinated learning offer with partners will be vital in ensuring that young people and adults have good quality opportunities to gain the necessary skills and qualifications to progress in learning, training and employment.
Action – Map the community learning offer by partners across Aberdeenshire ensuring clear progression and learning pathways are available to young people, adults and communities.
Partners will develop clear access points and progression routes with effective transitions for learners to build the necessary skills and qualifications to progress in learning, training, employment and life.
