This survey on questions associated with the Lived in Experience Topic Paper. has been prepared to assist with the formulation of the Aberdeenshire Local Development Plan Evidence Report has now closed
This questionnaire focuses
Lived in Experience is a key to our understanding of place within the settlements of Aberdeenshire. The Local Development Plan can assist the conservation of important soils by identifying and protecting them from unnecessary development. The Local Development Plan has capacity to help communities in a variety of ways. National Planning Framework 4 sets out the policy intent that the planning system should encourage, promote and facilitate well designed development that makes successful places by taking a design-led approach and applying the Place Principle. It seeks to provide quality places, spaces and environments as well as outcomes that provide for places that consistently deliver healthy, pleasant, distinctive, connected, sustainable and adaptable qualities.
This topic paper presents an analysis of collected Lived in Experience data from settlements across Aberdeenshire and considers the priorities put forward communities and the Local Development Plans capacity to address them. It draws conclusions which show that the Local Development Plan has capacity to address many of the issues identified within this paper, but not all of them.
It is likely that this paper will be of particular interest to communities as it shows the capacity of the Local Development to address issues they have put forward and serves as a intersecting point for many other topic papers.
If there are matters that you do not agree with relating to the information that we have looked at, then these are termed as "disputes". While most disputes made will be resolvable by modification of the topic paper, some will persist. If you make a dispute to this paper, and we cannot agree a solution then the dispute will be referred to a Reporter in the Scottish Government Directorate of Planning and Environmental Appeals in the Spring of 2025. Otherwise comments that you may make to this paper will be analysed and where possible resolution sought before consideration by Aberdeenshire Council, probably in January 2025.
It will require you to be a registered user and may ask for some personal details to assist us with understanding the points that you are making. Please see our Privacy Statement for more information.
WHILE WE DO NOT INTEND TO PUBLISH THE INDIVIDUAL SUBMISSION MADE, THEY WILL BECOME PART OF THE PUBLIC RECORD. ALL UNRESOLVED DISPUTES WILL BE PUBLISHED ON THE INTERNET AS PART OF THE GATECHECK EXAMINATION.

This topic paper provides details on the information sources we have used in our assessment of Lived in Experience, and provides interim conclusions that should be taken forward in the Spatial strategy for the forthcoming Local Development Plan 2028.
It considers, and asks for your views, on six general topics:
Communities
Jobs & Economy
Health & Wellbeing
Building & Environment
Transport
Crime & Safety
While considering these issues it would probably be appropriate to refer to the content of the topic paper.
We estimate that this survey will take 20 minutes to complete.
