Consultation has concluded
Education and Children's Services at Aberdeenshire Council would like to get your views regarding the secondary school catchment (school zone) for a section of the Lumphanan Primary School catchment area.
The majority of the secondary school catchment area for Lumphanan School is zoned for Aboyne Academy, however due to a historical anomaly there is a small area at the top of the catchment zoned for Alford Academy.
We would like to gather the views of the residents in this catchment anomaly area and have created a short survey. This survey is only focused on the secondary school catchment for the area in question. We are not proposing any changes to the Lumphanan Primary School catchment area.
This is the first stage of an informal information gathering process to get the views of residents regarding the catchment area. If as a result of this information gathering process there are to be proposed changes to the catchment areas, Aberdeenshire Council will consult fully with all stakeholders in line with The Schools (Consultation) (Scotland) Act 2010.
The maps below indicate the anomaly area that the questions refer to.
Map 1 is the highlighted area containing the area that is the focus of the online survey.
Map 2 is the Lumphanan School catchment area with the anomaly in the top section highlighted in blue.
Map 3 shows the secondary school catchment areas for Alford Academy and Aboyne Academy with the anomaly area highlighted in blue. This area is currently zoned to Alford Academy for secondary education and Lumphanan School for primary education.
The short survey will take approximately five minutes to complete. We welcome your participation.
The survey will close on Friday 23 June 2023.

On 21 March 2024 Education and Children's Services Committee approved the rezoning of the Aboyne Academy catchment to include the area anomaly within the Lumphanan School catchment area currently zoned to Alford Academy.
