Macduff Vaccination Centre
Proposed move of the Macduff Vaccination Clinic
The Vaccination Clinic in Macduff opened in 2021 to help deliver COVID‑19 vaccinations quickly and safely. It was always expected to be a temporary arrangement.
The clinic is based in the old Macduff GP Practice building, which had been empty for some time before it was used for vaccinations.
Since 2021, the clinic has grown. It now provides a wider range of vaccinations, and we see an opportunity to offer more local health services in the future.
To make this possible, and to make sure the service can continue in a safe, efficient and sustainable way, we are proposing to move the Vaccination Clinic from Macduff to Chalmers Hospital in Banff.
Why are we proposing this move?
The current building in Macduff is not suitable for expanding services. In particular, there is not enough appropriate clinical space to deliver additional care safely and effectively.
The building at Macduff is not in a suitable condition to deliver healthcare services long-term and would require substantial capital investment, but we do not have funding available for these works especially as there is a suitable alternative available at Chalmers Community Hospital.
Moving the Clinic to Chalmers Hospital would mean services such as Vaccinations and Community Treatment and Care (CTAC) are delivered from a central location, which could streamline delivery and improve patient experience.
Moving the clinic to Chalmers Hospital would allow:
- Continue providing vaccinations in a safe and efficient way
- Increase the range of services we can offer locally, including CTAC services such as:
- Chronic disease screening
- Heart tests (ECGs)
- Diabetic foot screening
- Doppler tests
- Wound care
These services would help more people receive care closer to home and could reduce the need to travel further for routine appointments.
We want to hear your views
We are asking for your feedback because this change could affect local residents and people who use the service. Your views will help us understand how the proposed move might impact people and will be considered before any final decision is made.
A short survey is available below and should take around 5 minutes to complete. The closing date for the survey is 3 June 2026.
Paper copies of the survey can be printed from the menu on the right. Paper copies are available from Chalmers Hospital and from Banff, Macduff and Aberchirder and Turriff libraries.
If you need the survey in a different format, please contact us by email.
