Update on 26.01.26:

During September and October 2025, Community Planning Partners in Buchan conducted a survey to ask for your views to help develop the Peterhead Partnership Place Plan, which builds on research and engagement already carried out to develop Peterhead 2040.

Peterhead 2040 sets out a shared, long‑term vision for Peterhead and the surrounding communities of St Fergus, Boddam, Longhaven and Cruden Bay, shaped by local views and experiences, and outlining the kind of place residents want to live in by 2040.

Our survey for the Peterhead Partnership Place Plan focused on the Peterhead 2040 Vision and its themes:

  • Blue & Green Natural Spaces
  • Skills, Education & Enterprise
  • Heritage, Townscape & Built Fabric
  • Living Well Locally

The feedback you have shared has helped us to better understand your experiences, priorities and aspirations. This is vital, as the views of residents, young people, community groups and local organisations are central to identifying the key priorities and actions that will inform the Partnership Plan which is due to be published in 2026.

The Partnership Place Plan sets out how the Peterhead 2040 vision will be delivered. It will bring partners together to agree what needs to happen now and in the years ahead, building on work already underway and focusing on the changes that will make the greatest difference for our communities. Your feedback will help shape clear priorities, outcomes and actions, including who will lead on delivery and how progress will be monitored.

What is the Partnership Place Plan?

The Partnership Place Plan follows the Place Principle, supported by the Scottish Government, which promotes joined‑up, place‑based working between organisations and communities to improve outcomes. It aligns with the Aberdeenshire Place Strategy, helping partners co-ordinate activity around people and place rather than individual services. By keeping community voices and lived experience at the centre of decision‑making, the Partnership Plan will support more responsive, locally informed action.

The Plan will also provide a framework for connecting plans, strategies, projects and actions which have been, or are being, developed by different partners and groups including the Buchan Community Planning Partnership, Peterhead Energy Transition Forum, the Neighbourhood Board as well as communities. It is designed to strengthen co-ordination between partners and services, build on existing activity, identify gaps and focus effort on addressing inequalities and areas of greatest need. By supporting long term planning and preventative approaches, the Plan aims to deliver lasting benefits for the area.
