Consultation has concluded
The Ready2Go surveywas aimed at service users who live in the Ready2Go Around Inverurie bus service operating area.
The Council pays for some bus services including Ready2Go Around Inverurie which was run by Watermill Coaches. Ready2Go was a new type of bus service, that was being tested and it has now ended.
The results of this survey will help in the evaluation of the Ready2Go around Inverurie pilot project and the planning of future council-funded bus services in Aberdeenshire.
You helped by telling us how you travel and what you think about Ready2Go. We wanted to know whether people like this type of bus service which must be booked, which is different to most other bus services that have a timetable and a fixed route.
The survey opened on Monday, March 13th and closed on Sunday, April 2nd, 2023. There were 418 responses.
In our survey we asked about:
General travel behaviour of Ready2Go customers
Most common reasons for using the Ready2Go service
Whether customers prefer a timetabled bus service or a demand responsive service like Ready2Go
Satisfaction about a variety of elements of the Ready2Go service
If customers supported the withdrawal of the Ready2Go service
What transport options customers would use after the end of Ready2Go
What impact the withdrawal of Ready2Go has on customers
Whether the service has improved, declined, or stayed the same over its running period
Whether Aberdeenshire Council should consider introducing a similar service in the future
Respondents told us:
The majority of customers travelled during the week, on their own and most commonly on a return journey.
Travel times were evenly spread throughout the day, peaking around lunchtime.
Customers most commonly travelled several times per week.
Most customers requested journeys within Inverurie.
The majority of customers booked Ready2Go via the booking app.
The most popular reason for using Ready2Go was social or leisure purposes, then shopping.
The majority of customers (87.6%) prefer a service like Ready2Go over a timetabled service.
The majority of customers (79.4%) did not support the withdrawal of the Ready2Go service.
The majority of customers will use timetabled buses or travel by car after the withdrawal of Ready2Go.
When asked how they would be affected by the withdrawal of Ready2Go customers most commonly said that their leisure activities would be limited.
The majority of respondents said that the service performance had stayed the same since its inception.
The majority of customers (86.1%) said that Aberdeenshire Council should introduce a similar service in the future.
