Aberdeenshire Council are proposing, subject to the outcome of the statutory consultation process;
To rezone Aboyne Academy catchment area to include the area in the Lumphanan School catchment area currently zoned to Alford Academy.
The proposal would apply to all secondary aged pupils within the anomaly (Area A) of the Lumphanan School catchment area from August 2024.
There will be no requirement for existing secondary school pupils to move schools if their catchment area changes.
This consultation is being undertaken in accordance with the Schools (Consultation) (Scotland) Act 2010. The Act requires that changes to the school estate, including a school boundary or catchment area, are subject to rigorous statutory consultation.
The consultation will run from 5 September 2023 until 3 November 2023, any written comments on the proposal must be received by Aberdeenshire Council within this period for them to be taken into account. The survey will remain open until 4pm on 3 November 2023.
A public meeting will be held at 6.30pm on 14 September 2023 at Lumphanan School.
