October 2023 Update
The valuable feedback received in the engagement period has been analysed. This has informed our planning to ensure effective support services for people with sensory loss or deafness are in place from April 2024, after current contracts end. New contracts are due to be awarded in December 2023.
Summary of engagement undertaken in early 2023
Surveys are now closed. We asked for your views on Sensory Loss Services to help shape the support they provide in the future. This was to ensure these services meet the needs of the service users and support people to live as independently as possible within their communities.
We wanted to hear from:
People who use the current services
People who may use the services in the future
People who care for someone living with sensory loss
Staff who support people living with sensory loss
Professionals providing services to people living with sensory loss
There were different ways in which you could get involved and share your views.
Completing a Survey (Service User & Public (including carers); Professional & Staff)
Attendance at drop-in sessions (either dedicated sessions or at Deaf Action's monthly drop-ins)
Further updates will continue to be posted on this page. If you have any queries or require further information in the meantime please contact: aberdeenshireHSCP@aberdeenshire.gov.uk

Aberdeenshire Health and Social Care Partnership currently commission the external services of the Royal National Institute of Blind people (RNIB) and Deaf Action to provide information, advice and support for those living with a sensory impairment.
The current contract with RNIB and Deaf Action is due to end in 2024 and we would like to seek the views of people who currently benefit from a sensory support service, and those who may use the service in the future.
If you are living with a sensory loss, or care for someone living with sensory loss we would like to hear your thoughts on the current and/or future sensory support service in Aberdeenshire. The survey has been designed to capture views from both the carer and the person living with sensory loss. (If you are a carer and it is appropriate, please support those living with a sensory loss to complete the survey). Please do not include any information (i.e names, addresses, etc) as this survey is anonymous.
