Summer of Play 2021
Consultation has concluded
We hope you enjoyed the Live Life Aberdeenshire Summer of Play!
You or your children may have taken part in our half day summer camps or our sports specific activities. Or perhaps you attended some of our free family sessions at our sports centres, swimming pools and museums? Maybe you took up the offer of free passes for some local visitor attractions or took part in one of our cultural projects?
We would love to hear what you did this summer and what you thought of the Summer of Play. We have provided several tools below for you to use to give your feedback - please feel free to use as many as you wish!
You can even upload your child's drawing showing what they enjoyed this summer (in the Tell us your Story tab below). We will choose the best drawing submitted to us by the end of August. The winner will win a family tubing pass for one of our outdoor ski centres!
If you would like to provide more detailed feedback, or have a private discussion, please feel free to email llacustomerservice@aberdeenshire.gov.uk

Summer fun
by Ellie , over 4 years agoMy two kids (aged 6 and 8) have attended several of the camps in both Huntly and Banff, plus activities such as skiing and swimming. I can’t fault the camps and the activities the kids have got to do. There’s always a wide range and they always come home happy and proud of what they’ve made during their time there. I would love for these activities to be available next summer as well. Twice they’ve been able to try skiing at the Nordic ski centre in huntly and have loved it. The instructors are brilliant and extremely helpful. My only negative is the booking via the app. For some activities you only needed to book one person from the family unit for the activity, others you had to book each child individually and an adult was included (but it didn’t say this). Information on the activity page of the app for what was included in the booking would have been helpful.

Happy Loon!
by Lesley Gove, over 4 years agoThese sessions have been an absolute godsend while we have been working during the summer holidays. We were a bit concerend as our son has been suffering with seperation anxiety since the Lockdown. After a lot of coaxing and encouragement our son attended his first session in Inverurie back in July and had the best time and has been so happy to go back. He thoroughly enjoyed the bikes, rock climbing, basketball, crafts and tik tok dances. He has also learned some new games......stuck in the mud a particular favourite that he has been learning his friends about. Thank you... Fantastic range of activities
by Happy Mum! , over 4 years agoAbsolutely fantastic range of activities. We made full use of the program and went to Inverurie, Alford, Huntly, Meldrum and westhill. It really helped lift my daughters spirits and allowed me time some time to focus on her toddler sibling knowing she was having lots of fun. As a parent of an autistic child this has been a real lifeline for us and help keep all our stress levels lower. My daughter particularly enjoyed the tubing, crafts and ASN trampolining. It was great to find she also got the chance to try new activities such as rock climbing.Thank you... Continue reading

An Active Summer
by Grateful Mum, over 4 years agoAfter suffering through so many lockdown restrictions, confined to home and being too reliant on devices for learning and entertainment I was determined that the kids would have a more active and healthier summer holiday this year.
We took advantage of as many of the activities as we could and the kids loved each and every one. We were lucky enough to get some spaces on the sports camp in week 1 & 2 and the kids really enjoyed trying out all the different sports to see what they liked and what they didn’t. I really hope they get the opportunity to do this again. The tennis was also a big hit and both are keen to try some more.Overall we were really grateful the Summer of play was available as it would have been a long uneventful summer without it.

by Angela , over 4 years agoFab summer programme. We’ve been to the outdoor pool in the sun, rain, wind and in the dark! My youngest has loved the multi sports camps and all the new friends and skills he has learned along the way. Looking forward to the basketball and football camps for the bigger ones next week! Certainly helping to keep us busy and moving. Thank you.Fab summer programme. We’ve been to the outdoor pool in the sun, rain, wind and in the dark! Fantastic! Thank you!
by K Duncan, over 4 years agoWe have made full use of the summer of play activities! My daughter has been to summer camp sessions in Mintlaw and Fraserburgh. She has really enjoyed taking part in these, asking if she could stay for the whole day!We have been to Fraserburgh swimming pool most weeks (some paid sessions and some free sessions). Both kids LOVE the pool so any opportunity that I’ve been able to book (spaces are limited), then I’ve booked us in.
We have also made use of the free soft play sessions at Macbi on Sunday mornings.

All in all, it could have been a long summer without all the activities provided. I am very grateful that we have had this, this summer. I really hope it continues in future years. I would be willing to pay for the summer camps if funding was not available.
Thank you so much to everyone involved 😊😊
