Creative Scotland’s Youth Music Initiative Formula Fund Programme fulfills the Scottish Government commitment that every school pupil in should be offered a year of free music tuition by the time they leave primary school. Additionally, the aim is to address inequity and contribute to the Scottish government’s agenda in tackling child poverty by engaging children and young people most in need.

The Aberdeenshire Youth Music Initiative is set to bring 22 amazing projects to over 120 schools and community groups, reaching at least 10,000 children and young people with the joy of music!

Jenny works with Adam Ross to deliver our "Where I Am" project which invites primary school children and their teachers to explore the nature, local ecosystems and landscape around their school. The focus is primarily on music making but is cross-curricular, linking to the environment and creative writing whilst delivering health and well-being benefits through outdoor learning. Dave leads our Ukulele Classroom Project with enthusiasm and expertise. He also collaborates with other musicians on the “Beat It” and “Upload” projects. As a talented multi-instrumentalist, Dave brings a vibrant energy and unwavering support to every initiative. He has a unique talent for connecting with young people, especially those who haven’t yet discovered the joy of music.
