What can I apply for?

You can apply for funding to employ a professional musician/sound artist to come to your group and teach you something or support you in your project, or there might be some music equipment you would like to buy.  If you have an idea, work out how much it all costs.

This should include the hours you need to pay the musician/sound artist, including their travel time, but it also might include things like a taxi for a young person who can’t get there, juice and biscuits, instruments, and hall hire.

You can see an example in the next FAQ.

How much information do I need to put in the application form?

The example below will show you the kind of information we are looking for .

No.  But you do need to have an Aberdeenshire Council worker who is able to support you.  We suggest you ask a Community Learning & Development Worker (CLD), A Social Worker or a Teacher.  If you aren't sure who to ask, email ymi@aberdeenshire.gov.uk

    What age is it for?

This funding is for projects for young people age 12 to 25 yrs

Does it matter where I live?

This funding is for projects that happen in Aberdeenshire.  You cannot apply if the project takes place in Aberdeen City, Moray, Angus, Perth & Kinross or Highland.

Why is there a minimum budget of £1,000?

We want you to enjoy a really good project with a professional musician where you can develop your music and music-making skills. Have a look at the example below.  You can apply for smaller amounts if you wish, but you need to show us your project is high quality.
