This page is where we host all engagement and consultation for services and support for adult unpaid carers in Aberdeenshire.

A carer is generally defined as an individual who provides, or intends to provide, care for another individual. An adult carer is over the age of 18.

Under the Carers (Scotland) Act 2016, which was implemented on 1st April 2018, there are requirements for local authorities and health and social care partnerships to provide Local Carer Strategies for carers in their area. There is also a requirement to develop Local Eligibility Criteria for carers.

Aberdeenshire Adult Carer Strategy 2025 - 2030 Consultation 8th July to 1st September 2025

Aberdeenshire Health & Social Care Partnership is currently consulting on its Draft Aberdeenshire Adult Carer Strategy, which is our plan of what we have been doing and what we plan to do to support adult carers over the next five years.

AHSCP is asking adult carers and people who support them, to give their views and help set our Priorities on how we support adult carers to sustain their caring role and have a meaningful life alongside caring.

The Consultation Survey is now open to give your views and will close on 1st September 2025. We will then review your feedback and develop the final strategy for presenting to the Integrated Joint Board (IJB) 12th December 2025. Once the strategy is approved by the IJB, we aim to launch the final strategy in January 2026.

    Aberdeenshire Health & Social Care Partnership is currently reviewing its Aberdeenshire Adult Carer Strategy, which is our plan of what we have been doing and what we plan to do to support adult carers over the next five years.

    AHSCP asked adult carers and people who support them, to give their views on how we support adult carers to sustain their caring role and have a meaningful life alongside caring.

    Surveys to give views are now closed and we have prepared the updated draft strategy for the Integrated Joint Board (IJB). Approval of the draft strategy has been delayed and is now planned for IJB discussion on 2nd July 2025. Once the strategy is approved by the IJB, consultation with unpaid carers, carer support services, the third sector and people who support adult carers will commence.
