Making Connections - Aberdeenshire's Dementia Strategy

Do you have experience of living with dementia or caring for someone that does or do you have a view about how dementia services should be shaped for the future? If yes, please help us to design the future of dementia assessment services in South Aberdeenshire by completing this survey. 

This redesign is aiming to evaluate the needs of people living with dementia and their carers to determine a new way of providing our services. 

You will be asked to indicate whether you are a person living with dementia, a carer / family member of someone with dementia, or if you are someone with an interest in this area but no direct experience. Thank you for your participation in the survey.

Do you have experience of working with people with dementia? Do you have new ideas about how to shape dementia assessment and support services in South Aberdeenshire? If yes, please help us to redesign the future of dementia services by sharing your views. 

This model needs to be one that meets the needs of all communities in Marr and Kincardine & Mearns and supports people living with dementia in all community settings. It needs to help us overcome the challenges with workforce recruitment, especially of registered mental health nurses, and offer flexibility to respond to increasing demand due to demographic change and the increase of dementia diagnoses.

Aberdeenshire Health and Social Care Partnership is reviewing the current community support for people living with dementia and their unpaid carers across Aberdeenshire, currently provided by Alzheimer Scotland.

For a number of years, we have worked with Alzheimer Scotland to provide community activities, peer support, one-to-one advice and information.

An example of these activities can be found on the What’s On In Aberdeenshire - Aberdeen Brain Health & Dementia Resource Centre

We know that community support can make a positive difference for people living with dementia and unpaid carers and we want to continue investing in dementia support across Aberdeenshire.

We would like to hear from people living with dementia, unpaid carers and community members about your experience of current support and your views on how support could be improved in the future.

The survey should take about 5 - 10 minutes to complete. The survey will close on Wednesday the 14th October 2026.
